Pioneering Arab experiences in this field include the “Contrust” virtual platform launched by Al Jazeera and the Frontline in Focus XR platform, which focuses on human issues in war and conflict zones.

Implementing Virtual World Journalism in Newsrooms

In order to integrate virtual world journalism within newsrooms, certain key elements and functions need to be provided:

  • 3D graphic design
  • 3D montage
  • Photography using 360-degree cameras
  • Working in virtual reality platforms

Additionally, creating a virtual content library is crucial. This library should include various types of virtual content, some of which may be available for free use via online platforms, while others may be paid or completely manufactured within the editorial halls. Collecting content from international platforms and creating virtual stories and dialogues based on this content is an important step.

Defining the Hypothetical Story

The first step in creating a newspaper story in the virtual world is to collect all the information about the story and determine the form for creating the story. This involves considering the cost, implementation time, and available resources. It is important to write down all the stories that can be created virtually and search through various metaverse platforms or the virtual library to determine if the required material is available or needs to be created in-house.

For example, if the goal is to conduct a virtual interview or tour to present details about the sinking of the “Titan” next to the ship “Titanic,” the spatial platform can provide various virtual spaces for this purpose. The location of the virtual meeting must be determined, and the guest and scenario should be selected accordingly. Once these decisions are made, the virtual story can be implemented.

Virtual stories can be presented to the public via social networking sites or online news platforms, using 360 technology or video display methods. They can be shown on news websites or television screens. After publishing the virtual story, it is important to follow up on comments and interact with the public. This helps in studying their feedback and continuing to develop stories, dialogues, and virtual meetings.
